ORPHAN'S FIRST YEAR EXPENSES. Making way for an orphan at one of our orphanages is a bit steeper a financial challenge than just sponsoring their ongoing needs after they're settled in. That's why we've developed a special sponsorship to cover the higher expenses involved in an orphan's first year at the orphanage. Your gift of $500, or a share thereof, will go toward covering the first year's capital expenses we incur in preparing to receive a new orphan, and in helping them get settled in during their first year— expenses like bed & bedding, school supplies, uniforms, shoes, locker, immunizations as well as dealing with medical issues many have upon arrival. Ongoing years for the orphan are typically covered by a combination of individual sponsorships and microenterprise profits.
