chad images Pastor Kolpele Nassandou is the founder and director of the Orphelinat Evangelique La Compassion (OEC), or the Compassion Evangelical Orphanage. Pastor Kolpele and his ministry were accepted into the Friends of Peace Gospel Network in early 2009, becoming part of our extended ministry family. We are now partnering with him to provide funding, financial accountability and administrative oversight. The orphanage is currently home to 15 children who have been rescued from lives of desperation in war-torn Chad, where human trafficking in the sex trade is a horrible reality. We are also reaching out to widows through a Widow's Seamstress Business Initiative, being conducted from the same facility housing the orphanage. From the years of civil war and rebel uprisings in the country, countless women have been widowed, losing their main source of income. The business initiative is empowering widows with a practical business skill and equipment that allows them to run practical, in-demand businesses out of their homes. As a form of self-support for the OEC, Kolpele and his staff maintain a small goat farm to help offset expenses of these programs. We are seeking funding to expand their microenterprise efforts which will in turn expand our ministry reach in the region.
