Pastor Frank Tibagendeka and his wife Susan are the founders and directors of a small indigenous ministry located in the Mayuge District in Southeastern Uganda. Among Uganda's 74 districts, Mayuge is the third poorest, where approximately 50% of the population is age 14 and under. After a thorough application, interview and verification process conducted by our board of directors, we gladly welcomed Pastor Frank and his ministry as a part of our extended ministry family in the Friends of Peace Gospel Network during the Fall of 2009.

Pastor Frank and his team operate an orphanage that serves 70 children who are among the tens of thousands of orphans left behind by HIV/AIDS-stricken families and devastating civil wars. They also operate "The Conquerors College School" as a venture philanthropy program, generating income for the orphanage while also offering the local population quality, affordable education. Currently, about 50 families utilize the school for a fee, while all of the orphans of course receive the education at no cost. With help from donors like yourself, there are hopes to complete a new school building to attract additional families. As we expand the school, tuition from new students will enable us to reach more orphans. The orphanage is operated by Christian laypeople who recognize the need in providing a well-rounded education to vulnerable students. Among our target demographic are orphan girls as young as 12 years old who all too often end up pregnant in polygamous marriages. A staggering 85% of families in the Mayuge District are polygamous.

On the existing property, we have recently enhanced our Uganda ministry's sustainability with the addition of a small piggery, further offsetting the orphanage operating costs. With even a small donation, you can help us expand these microenterprise efforts which will in turn broaden our ministry reach in the region.
